About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Overland Park, Kansas. You will work within our Power and Energy team to gain hands-on experience in distribution design. The program lasts 12 weeks, starting May 17, 2027. You will work alongside experienced engineers on real projects while participating in mentorship and networking opportunities.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to build your technical and professional skills.
- Learn foundational principles of Electrical Engineering.
- Assist with data collection and consulting services.
- Support distribution planning, coordination, sectionalizing, and arc-flash studies for Medium Voltage systems.
- Complete assigned training and follow company policies, including the Code of Conduct.
- Work under the guidance of senior staff on distribution design projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate program for Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
- An anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Basic proficiency in technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A commitment to workplace safety and professional conduct.
- Interest in the consulting engineering or electric utility industry.
- Master's degree enrollment and prior leadership or internship experience are preferred.
