    About the role#

    WSP is offering a full-time, paid summer internship for students pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. This 12-week program provides hands-on experience in transmission line engineering. You will work alongside senior staff on real projects, participate in the Developing Professionals Network, and gain exposure to professional engineering practices.

    What you'll do#

    • Support various engineering tasks to build technical and professional skills.
    • Learn the basic principles of transmission line engineering.
    • Assist with transmission line design for new installations, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic enhancements.
    • Use PLS CADD software and aerial imagery to map and represent transmission line routes.
    • Collaborate with utility stakeholders and construction partners.
    • Gain experience in model design, material procurement, and the creation of construction drawings.
    • Complete assigned training and follow company policies regarding safety and ethics.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate, Masters, or PhD program in Civil Engineering or a related field.
    • Graduation date of August 2027 or later.
    • Must be 18 years of age or older.
    • Authorization to work in the United States.
    • Interest in transmission lines and a desire to develop relevant technical skills.
    • Ability to follow direction from managers and mentors.
    • Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
    • Commitment to workplace safety and professional conduct.
    • Preferred: Coursework in structural analysis, concrete or steel design, soil mechanics, foundation design, and surveying.
    • Preferred: Previous engineering design or drafting experience and campus leadership involvement.

    • Location: Overland Park, Kansas.
    • Term: Summer 2027, starting in May 2027.
    • Modality: On-site.
