About the role#
Worthington Steel is seeking an Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position based in Monroe, Michigan. You will gain hands-on experience by completing projects that apply your field of study to real-world manufacturing applications. Interns receive mentorship and guidance to prepare for success in both the workplace and the classroom.
What you'll do#
You will work on both the plant floor and in the office. Your responsibilities include data collection, analysis, and validation. You will participate in problem solving and strategic planning. You are expected to document, execute, present, and evaluate your project work. Projects are determined based on departmental needs and your specific skills or interests.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Engineering program (Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial, Aerospace, Biomedical, or Environmental Engineering).
- Strong background in MS Office, specifically Excel.
- Proficiency with computers and a willingness to learn new systems.
- Critical thinking skills and an interest in manufacturing.
- Ability to listen actively and follow directions.
- Punctuality and a commitment to quality work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Initiative to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Willingness to travel to other locations, including Canton, Michigan and Valley City, Ohio.
