About the role#
Worthington Steel is seeking an Electrical/Controls Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. This is a paid, full-time internship based in Monroe, Michigan. You will work on projects that apply your academic studies to real-world manufacturing challenges. You will spend your time working both on the plant floor and in an office setting.
What you'll do#
- Complete projects that apply your field of study to manufacturing applications.
- Collaborate with experienced professionals who provide mentorship and guidance.
- Work in both office and plant floor environments.
- Practice skills in data acquisition, PLC operations, problem solving, and project execution.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
- Completion of your sophomore year by the summer of 2027.
- Strong background in MS Office and Excel.
- Understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and data analytics experience.
- Proficiency with computers, new systems, and critical thinking.
- Ability to listen, follow directions, and work independently or in a team.
- Punctuality, a commitment to quality work, and an interest in manufacturing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Initiative to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Willingness to travel to other locations, including Canton, MI and Valley City, OH.
