    About the role#

    Worthington Steel is seeking an Electrical/Controls Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. This is a paid, full-time internship based in Monroe, Michigan. You will work on projects that apply your academic studies to real-world manufacturing challenges. You will spend your time working both on the plant floor and in an office setting.

    What you'll do#

    • Complete projects that apply your field of study to manufacturing applications.
    • Collaborate with experienced professionals who provide mentorship and guidance.
    • Work in both office and plant floor environments.
    • Practice skills in data acquisition, PLC operations, problem solving, and project execution.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
    • Completion of your sophomore year by the summer of 2027.
    • Strong background in MS Office and Excel.
    • Understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and data analytics experience.
    • Proficiency with computers, new systems, and critical thinking.
    • Ability to listen, follow directions, and work independently or in a team.
    • Punctuality, a commitment to quality work, and an interest in manufacturing.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Initiative to identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Willingness to travel to other locations, including Canton, MI and Valley City, OH.

    • This role is located in Monroe, MI.
    • The position is on-site and full-time.
    • The internship term is Summer 2027.
