About the role#
World Relief is looking for a Tech Support Intern to assist adult refugee women in Sacramento. This role focuses on helping clients with limited English and literacy levels gain the digital skills needed to access virtual education. You will provide hands-on support, troubleshoot technical issues, and help clients navigate basic digital tools. This is an unpaid internship, though university credit may be available.
What you'll do#
- Set up, update, and track department laptops loaned to clients.
- Train clients in basic digital literacy, including how to use phones, laptops, and video conferencing software.
- Provide technical support via phone, video, and in-person visits to client homes.
- Research and assist clients in securing low-cost internet access.
- Create digital literacy training materials and short how-to videos.
- Assist with general office tasks and special projects as needed.
What you'll need#
- Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto is required.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Ability to troubleshoot common phone and computer problems.
- Current valid US Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle.
- Must be female-presenting to respect the cultural values of the population served.
- Ability to work independently and build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to the mission and faith statement of World Relief.
- Pursuing or holding a degree in fields such as Computer Science, Sociology, or Psychology.
Location & details#
- Location: Sacramento, California.
- Modality: Hybrid, with one day in the office and four days working from home.
- Schedule: 10 hours per week, specifically Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm.
- Status: Unpaid internship.
