About the role#
The Electoral Justice Fellowship is a 4-month program focused on community organizing and electoral strategy. This is a field-based role rather than a desk job. You will gain hands-on experience in basebuilding, voter contact, and identifying potential candidates for office. The fellowship is designed to provide you with the skills and support needed to organize effectively within your local community.
What you'll do#
- Complete a core curriculum of organizing training through virtual and in-person sessions.
- Conduct one-on-one relational conversations with community leaders to build shared goals.
- Research and map local power structures to connect community issues to election cycles.
- Recruit and organize a local volunteer action team of 15 to 20 members.
- Host community meetings for individuals interested in running for office or protecting democracy.
- Plan and execute local canvass events and weekly phone banks.
- Represent the organization at coalition meetings to expand local reach.
- Document your team's outcomes and transition leadership to a member-led committee.
What you'll need#
- Deep ties to and current residence in Mississippi or Tennessee.
- A commitment to economic and social justice for working families.
- Prior experience in a role requiring an understanding of local and state politics.
- Reliable access to a smartphone, a computer, and internet service.
- A willingness to learn and work collaboratively with others.
- Comfort speaking with new people and facilitating group discussions.

- This is a full-time, temporary position.
- The role is hybrid.
- Work is based in Mississippi or Tennessee.
