About the role#
As a Packaging Engineer COOP within the Research, Development, and Innovation team, you will apply packaging science principles to meet project objectives. This role provides hands-on experience and exposure to industry experts, preparing you for a career in packaging engineering. You will work both independently and as part of cross-functional teams to support product commercialization.
What you'll do#
- Participate in new product development, including concept and prototype work.
- Contribute to cost savings, quality improvements, and material substitutions.
- Conduct line trials and packaging qualifications to support project requirements.
- Work with cross-functional team members to understand the impact of material selection and design on manufacturing.
- Research specific topics and present your findings to a broad audience.
- Evaluate and optimize the corporate database containing component specifications, drawings, and palletizing requirements.
- Support sustainability initiatives to help meet customer goals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program related to Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, Marketing, or Operations Management.
- Ability to apply packaging science principles.
- Strong project management, time management, and organizational skills.
- A solid understanding of packaging development processes.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
- Experience or interest in sustainability initiatives.

- Location: Oak Brook, Illinois.
- Modality: Hybrid (In-office Tuesday through Thursday; remote Monday and Friday).
- Terms available: Fall 2028 and Winter 2028.
- Status: Full-time, paid position.
