About the role#
As a Backend Software Engineer Intern, you will join the WEX Technology team to solve real business problems. You will work alongside product managers and senior engineers to build software that addresses customer needs. This internship focuses on high-quality code and test-driven development.
What you'll do#
- Design and build scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Develop components for mobile applications.
- Create PostgreSQL schemas and optimize database queries.
- Deploy microservices on AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Use modern AI tools to build agents and automate workflows.
- Partner with senior engineers to apply design best practices.
- Write tested code and ship features throughout the summer.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Data Structures and Algorithms.
- Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and PostgreSQL.
- Exposure to AWS cloud infrastructure and mobile development concepts.
- Ability to build functional AI agents and explore modern AI trends.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset.
