About the role#
As a Backend Software Engineer Intern, you will work within a team focused on backend systems hosted on AWS. You will partner with engineers and Product Managers to build software that addresses business challenges. This role emphasizes core engineering fundamentals, the production of well-tested code, and the responsible use of AI developer tools to accelerate delivery.
What you'll do#
- Design and maintain backend services using Go, Java, C, or PHP.
- Support, deploy, and manage backend systems on AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Write unit and UI tests to validate your code.
- Use AI productivity tools like Cursor, Copilot, Claude, or Gemini to speed up tasks.
- Audit AI-generated code for accuracy and quality.
- Perform minor front-end UI updates when required.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Completion of at least your Sophomore year by the start of the internship.
- Strong proficiency in Go or experience with backend languages such as Java, C, or PHP.
- Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals.
- Practical exposure to AWS cloud infrastructure and core services.
- Experience with software testing best practices, including unit and UI testing.
- A balanced awareness of modern AI development tools and the discipline to verify their output.
