About the role#
This is a full-time, paid research internship for the Summer 2027 term. You will work with the AI Foundations team to develop machine learning solutions for autonomous driving. This role is based in Mountain View, California, and operates on a hybrid schedule.
What you'll do#
- Research, implement, and evaluate world action models for end-to-end autonomous driving.
- Collaborate with research and engineering teams to improve the Waymo World Model.
- Conduct research and share findings through technical reports or academic publications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Ph.D. program for Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- A strong publication record in top-tier AI, ML, or robotics conferences.
- Hands-on experience training and evaluating deep learning models for robotics or autonomous driving.
- Proficiency in Python and modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
- A deep understanding of neural network architectures and learning paradigms.
- Preference is given to candidates with experience in diffusion or flow matching models, world action models, autonomous driving datasets, and open-source foundation models.
