About the role#
This internship is part of the Perception team, specifically the Sensing Resilience group. You will focus on sensor calibration and health monitoring to support the Waymo Driver. You will work on algorithms that process data from new sensors and hardware platforms, ensuring they align correctly for the software stack.
What you'll do#
- Scale sensor calibration algorithms to support various hardware architectures by building a next-generation system.
- Develop, evaluate, and deploy new initiatives for this calibration system.
- Test and deploy ML-based calibration systems in areas that are not yet covered in existing literature.
- Work with colleagues in hardware, software, and operations to deploy real-world robotic systems.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an MS or PhD program in Computer Science, Robotics, or a similar technical field.
- Experience working with C++.
- Experience deploying software within a complex system is preferred.
- Experience with multi-sensor robotic system calibration is preferred.
- Experience evaluating and deploying ML systems is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, hybrid internship based in Mountain View, California.
- The term is Summer 2027.
- This position is paid, with an hourly rate of $70 for Master's students and $85 for PhD students.
