About the role#
The Mill Services Intern supports field service operations and strategy development. You will work alongside the VP of Service, department managers, and millwrights to maintain and repair industrial equipment. This role balances office-based technical tasks with hands-on labor in industrial environments. You will work with a mentor on a specific project and present your findings to management at the end of the term.
What you'll do#
- Support field service millwrights with mechanical rebuilds of equipment like screens, filters, headboxes, and press sections.
- Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble mechanical systems.
- Prepare and modify technical drawings using AutoCAD or similar tools.
- Collect field measurements and analyze patterns related to equipment wear or failure.
- Document mechanical improvements and help develop new work procedures.
- Present a final project review to peers and leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related degree program.
- Experience reading and modifying technical drawings, with a preference for AutoCAD proficiency.
- Familiarity with mechanical systems and industrial components.
- Strong hands-on aptitude and comfort working in physical, industrial environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective problem-solving, time management, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks like stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
