About the role#
Experience VU Peer Tutors provide student-centered academic support and mentorship. You will serve as an academic role model, helping your peers develop subject mastery, study skills, and executive function strategies. This role focuses on building an inclusive environment that encourages independent learning while maintaining student confidentiality.
What you'll do#
- Demonstrate competency in your tutoring subjects, study skills, and executive function strategies.
- Provide mentoring to peers and encourage independent behavior.
- Document the time and a brief description of every tutoring contact.
- Complete all required training sessions.
- Maintain strict FERPA compliance regarding student information.
What you'll need#
- A recommendation from a faculty member for the subjects you intend to tutor.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in academic settings.
- Dependability, trustworthiness, and a willingness to problem-solve independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students who have varied learning styles.
