About the role#
Bay Beach Veterinary Emergency Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia, is seeking a DVM/VMD student extern to join our multi-doctor practice. This role provides an opportunity to work within a network of 19 employee veterinarians and 25 credentialed technicians across our emergency and general practice locations. Externs receive mentorship from experienced veterinarians and gain exposure to a wide range of clinical skills in a collaborative environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist in emergency medical procedures.
- Collaborate with a team of veterinarians.
- Provide care for both companion animals and exotics, with a caseload consisting of approximately 90% companion animals and 10% exotics.
- Engage in hands-on training and mentorship.
- Learn from experienced veterinarians in a facility equipped with in-house lab capabilities, digital x-ray, and ultrasound.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in an AVMA accredited Veterinary School (VMD or DVM degree path).
- Strong interest in emergency medicine.
- Ability to maintain exceptional client communication.
- Commitment to learning and collaboration.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
