About the role#
Hollymead Veterinary Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia, offers a DVM/VMD externship for students currently enrolled in an AVMA accredited veterinary program. This role provides hands-on experience in a practice that handles both general practice and emergency care. Externs work alongside a team of veterinarians and skilled support staff in an environment focused on Fear Free and Feline Friendly methods.
What you'll do#
- Support veterinary professionals in providing direct patient care.
- Participate in clinical decision-making processes.
- Assist with urgent care and emergency medicine cases.
- Engage in hands-on training and mentorship with experienced doctors.
- Use in-house lab equipment, digital x-rays, and ultrasound technology.
- Gain exposure to emergency surgery procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an AVMA accredited veterinary school pursuing a VMD or DVM degree.
- Interest in working with Fear Free professionals.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based environment.
