About the role#

The DVM/VMD Externship at Essex Middle River Veterinary Center offers veterinary students the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience within a supportive, companion-focused practice. This externship focuses on professional development through mentorship and exposure to a wide range of clinical services in a collaborative team environment.

What you'll do#

• Provide quality care to pets throughout their lives.
• Participate in mentorship and ongoing learning opportunities with experienced veterinarians.
• Collaborate with a team of veterinary professionals including technicians and assistants.
• Utilize in-house lab capabilities, digital x-ray, and ultrasound equipment.
• Contribute to a supportive and uplifting clinic environment.
• Gain exposure to wellness care, dentistry, surgery, behavior consultations, endoscopy, and orthopedics.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an AVMA accredited Veterinary School (DVM or VMD degree path).
• Interest in pursuing clinical skills in wellness, dentistry, surgery, and specialized procedures.
• Ability to work effectively within a team-oriented practice.

• Location: Essex, Maryland.

• Schedule: Full-time.
• Compensation: Paid position with a stipend provided to offset housing and travel costs.
