DVM/VMD Extern

About the role#

Brandermill Animal Hospital in the Richmond, Virginia area is seeking a DVM/VMD extern to join their AAHA-accredited practice. This externship provides students with hands-on experience in an integrative and preventative care environment, supported by a collaborative team of veterinarians and technicians. The role focuses on professional development through structured mentorship and exposure to clinical operations.

What you'll do#

• Support the clinical team in delivering high-quality integrative and preventative veterinary care.
• Assist with various veterinary procedures and routine surgeries.
• Engage in client interactions to build relationships and support the hospital's high-touch approach to care.
• Learn to utilize the hospital's in-house laboratory, digital x-ray, and ultrasound diagnostic equipment.
• Participate in mentorship programs designed to foster professional growth and clinical confidence.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an AVMA-accredited veterinary school (DVM or VMD degree path).
• Strong clinical skills in wellness and dentistry.
• Experience with basic and routine surgical procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team of veterinarians and technicians.
