About the role#
Mount Airy Veterinary Associates offers a hands-on externship for veterinary students looking to gain clinical experience in a companion animal practice. You will work alongside two experienced veterinarians and a dedicated support staff in a collaborative environment. This role provides exposure to a variety of clinical procedures and allows you to learn from a team that values open communication and professional development.
What you'll do#
- Gain experience with in-house lab capabilities.
- Participate in digital x-ray and ultrasound procedures.
- Engage in therapeutic laser treatments for companion animals.
- Provide preventive health care for small animals.
- Support soft tissue surgery services.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an AVMA accredited Veterinary School (VMD or DVM degree path).
- A desire to learn from experienced veterinarians.
- Strong clinical skills in wellness and dentistry.
- A willingness to work with exotics.
- Interest in performing basic soft tissue and ophthalmic surgeries.
