DVM/VMD Extern

About the role#

Hoffman Animal Hospital in Annapolis, Maryland, is seeking a DVM/VMD extern to join their practice. This externship provides students with hands-on experience in a general practice setting, focusing on small animal preventative care, medicine, dentistry, and basic soft tissue surgery. Externs will work alongside an experienced team in a facility equipped with in-house lab capabilities, digital x-ray, ultrasound, and therapeutic laser.

What you'll do#

• Participate in the day-to-day operations of the veterinary practice.
• Assist with small animal preventative care and medical treatments.
• Learn from mentorship provided by experienced veterinarians.
• Engage with clients to improve their understanding of pet health.
• Contribute to a collaborative and supportive team environment.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an AVMA accredited Veterinary School (VMD or DVM degree path).
• A strong interest in small animal preventative care, medicine, and surgery.
• Willingness to learn and work collaboratively with veterinarians and support staff.
• Familiarity with Fear Free practices.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with team members and clients.
