    About the role#

    The DVM Externship Program at VEG ER for Pets provides 3rd and 4th-year veterinary students with an intensive, hands-on experience in emergency medicine. This program is designed to offer exposure to real-world emergency cases, allowing students to work directly with experienced emergency doctors to build clinical and communication skills.

    What you'll do#

    • Work alongside highly skilled emergency doctors.
    • Collaborate with the team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Learn to diagnose a variety of emergent conditions.
    • Develop treatment plans and assist with medical records.
    • Learn to effectively communicate with customers.
    • Scrub into surgeries.

    What you'll need#

    • Must be a 3rd or 4th-year student currently enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
    • Must possess AVMA/PLIT personal liability insurance and personal medical insurance.
    • Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor.
    • Ability to lift up to 25 kg on your own.
    • Willingness to work in a noisy environment.

    • Term: Summer 2026.
    • Modality: On-site at various locations across the United States.
    • Compensation: This is an unpaid externship.
