The DVM Externship Program at VEG ER for Pets provides 3rd and 4th-year veterinary students with an intensive, hands-on experience in emergency medicine. This program is designed to offer exposure to real-world emergency cases, allowing students to work directly with experienced emergency doctors to build clinical and communication skills.
What you'll do#
- Work alongside highly skilled emergency doctors.
- Collaborate with the team in a fast-paced environment.
- Learn to diagnose a variety of emergent conditions.
- Develop treatment plans and assist with medical records.
- Learn to effectively communicate with customers.
- Scrub into surgeries.
What you'll need#
- Must be a 3rd or 4th-year student currently enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- Must possess AVMA/PLIT personal liability insurance and personal medical insurance.
- Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor.
- Ability to lift up to 25 kg on your own.
- Willingness to work in a noisy environment.

- Term: Summer 2026.
- Modality: On-site at various locations across the United States.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid externship.
