About the role#
VARTAN.AERO is looking for a Field Service Mechanic Intern to support aircraft interior rework, repairs, and modifications. You will work alongside experienced mechanics to learn our processes, quality standards, and technical requirements. This is a hands-on role focused on gaining practical experience in the aerospace industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist with mechanical and cosmetic rework, including adjustments, replacements, and calibrations.
- Install, file, sand, and paint decorative laminate.
- Help troubleshoot electrical systems and replace connectors, terminal lugs, and wires.
- Apply modifications under supervision and document your work accurately.
- Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Assist in creating new work instructions based on engineering blueprints.
- Communicate with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
- Support customer flight activities when requested while following all safety and quality procedures.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanical aptitude and an interest in aviation or technical fields.
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a trade, technical, or aviation maintenance program.
- Hands-on experience in areas like A&P coursework, automotive mechanics, cabinetmaking, or electrical work.
- Basic ability to read technical drawings or blueprints.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team with strong attention to detail.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings for customer badging.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces like bending or kneeling.
- Willingness to work in varying climate conditions and noise levels, including shifts longer than 8 hours when needed.
