About the role#
This internship offers the opportunity to join the Varda Structures Team. You will contribute to the design, construction, and testing of mechanical elements for our in-orbit manufacturing spacecraft and ground support equipment. This role is intended for students who want to grow technically while working on projects that directly support our mission.
What you'll do#
- Develop new design concepts using first-principles and physics-driven approaches.
- Create CAD models and engineering drawings for hardware intended for space flight.
- Build and test both development and flight hardware.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a similar field.
- A demonstrated ability to solve engineering challenges through technical projects, such as Rocket Club, Formula SAE, or previous work experience.
- Proficiency with CAD software, specifically Siemens NX.
- Experience with finite element analysis using Femap and NASTRAN.
- A desire to contribute to a technically complex environment.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in El Segundo, California.
- The term runs between January and May 2027, with specific dates depending on your university schedule.
- This position is paid at an hourly rate of $33.00.
- We provide a housing stipend for interns relocating to the area and a commuter benefit.
- Applicants must be U.S. persons as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) to comply with export control requirements.
