About the role#
The Manufacturing Engineering team at Varda builds and integrates our spacecraft and reentry systems. As an intern, you will bridge the gap between design and production by working directly with flight hardware and build operations. You will solve problems in real time and contribute to projects that are essential to our mission success.
What you'll do#
- Own or contribute to factory design to support production scaling.
- Create new production processes or improve existing workflows.
- Optimize hardware designs for manufacturability.
- Perform hands-on production tasks or support operations as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering, or Physics.
- Hands-on experience from project teams or previous internships.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as 5S or production floor space management.
- Modeling and assembly CAD experience.
- Completed coursework in core engineering concepts, specifically Statics, Dynamics, Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, or Heat Transfer.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship located in El Segundo, California.
- The term runs during the spring of 2027, between January and May.
- This position is paid at an hourly rate of $33.00.
- We provide a housing stipend for interns relocating to the area and a commuter benefit.
- Candidates must be U.S. persons as defined by federal export control regulations.
