About the role#
The Manufacturing Engineering team handles the assembly and integration of our spacecraft and reentry systems. As an intern, you will bridge the gap between design and production. You will gain experience with flight hardware, build operations, and real-time problem solving. This role is a full-time, on-site position during the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Own or contribute to factory design to support production scaling.
- Create new production processes or improve existing workflows.
- Optimize hardware designs for manufacturability.
- Perform hands-on production tasks or support operations as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Physics.
- Hands-on experience from project teams or previous internships.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes like 5S and production floor space.
- Experience with modeling or assembly CAD.
- A strong understanding of core engineering concepts, with completed coursework in Statics, Dynamics, Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, or Heat Transfer.
- Proficiency with engineering tools such as NX, MATLAB, or LabVIEW.
- Experience with the SQL programming language.
- A proven ability to own and deliver a technically complex project.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment.

- Location: El Segundo, California.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Pay: $33.00 per hour.
- Status: This is a paid, full-time internship. Please note that Varda requires all employees to be U.S. persons as defined by export control regulations.
