About the role#
This internship is a full-time, on-site position based in Los Angeles, California, running during the summer of 2027. You will join the Avionics Team, which manages all spacecraft electronics including flight computers, batteries, and radios. Interns take ownership of circuit designs from initial schematic capture and layout through to manufacturing and testing.
What you'll do#
- Design and test custom PCBs for embedded electronics and analog or digital systems.
- Manage end-to-end hardware development, including schematic capture, board layout, and testing.
- Support embedded system development using microcontrollers and sensors.
- Contribute to specific projects such as the Embedded Camera System, Thermocouple Logger, or Analog TEC Controller.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Electrical Engineering or related degree program.
- Academic standing of Junior year or higher.
- Prior experience designing PCBs.
- Familiarity with microcontroller programming.
- Experience or interest in Python programming.
- Strong attention to detail with an ability to debug hardware prototypes.
- Previous hands-on experience in project teams or labs.
- Familiarity with Altium or other PCB design tools is preferred.
