About the role#
As an Automation Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in industrial automation, solution design, and system implementation. Working under the guidance of experienced technical experts, you will contribute to defined project assignments while building foundational knowledge of engineering standards and automation technologies. This role involves a mix of office-based work and travel to customer sites for project support, training, and demonstrations.
What you'll do#
- Complete an Electrical Distribution Orientation to understand the business and customer solutions.
- Assist with application research, product selection, technical scoping, project estimation, and BOM development.
- Prepare draft technical deliverables including drawings, configuration records, test documentation, and application notes.
- Support configuration, programming, testing, integration, startup, commissioning, and validation activities.
- Participate in troubleshooting and document findings or risks.
- Observe and assist with customer training, demonstrations, and technical presentations.
- Collaborate with customers, suppliers, sales, and project teams.
- Contribute to a process improvement or reusable technical asset assignment.
- Follow safety practices and engineering standards.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Currently a college sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, or Computer Engineering, Automation, Robotics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Comfort using AI tools to support learning and project work.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to organize work and manage priorities.

- Travel: Overnight travel is possible for customer site visits and events.
