About the role#
The University of Virginia Intramural-Recreational Sports Department is hiring Pickleball Instructors for the Winter 2027 term. You will lead lessons for faculty, staff, students, and community members at the Snyder Tennis Center. This is a part-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Lead and instruct pickleball lessons for groups of up to six participants.
- Teach skills in a way that prioritizes participant safety and enjoyment.
- Engage participants to help them build a lasting interest in the sport.
- Communicate clearly with participants and provide quality customer service.
- Enforce University and departmental policies.
- Assist with Emergency Action Procedures when necessary.
- Attend staff meetings and in-service sessions.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current UVA student.
- Experience leading group pickleball or tennis lessons, or competitive playing experience at the high school or collegiate level.
- Ability to modify movements to ensure participant safety.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Charlottesville, Virginia.
- Work Modality: On-site at the Snyder Tennis Center.
- Compensation: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour.
