About the role#
This is a Federal Work-Study position for the 2026-2027 academic year. You will support the daily operations of Newcomb Hall, 1515, and other facilities across the University of Virginia. This role serves as a primary point of contact for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. You will work across various shifts, including days and evenings, between August 25, 2026, and May 4, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Provide customer service to clients and visitors.
- Answer phones and greet guests at the information desk.
- Enforce policies and procedures to ensure client compliance.
- Perform facility and equipment setups for meetings and events.
- Complete daily rounds to monitor facilities and report equipment needs to staff.
- Assist with departmental functions across multiple locations as needed.
What you'll need#
- Active federal work-study award for the 2026-2027 academic year.
- Current enrollment as a student at the University of Virginia.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to partner with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Dependable, punctual, and responsible work habits.
- Ability to lift and set up equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
- A valid driver's license.
- Availability to attend mandatory staff trainings, meetings, and one-on-one supervisor check-ins.
