About the role#
The Parichy Lab at the University of Virginia is hiring part-time assistants. This role involves supporting daily operations in both molecular biology and animal research facilities. It is an entry-level position with flexible hours designed to fit around your course schedule. You will have the chance to develop professional skills and assist with ongoing research projects.
What you'll do#
- Prepare solutions and pour plates.
- Handle sterilization, organization, and lab inventory.
- Care for and feed tropical fish, including zebrafish and related species.
- Assist with mutant screens and gene perturbation using CRISPR methods.
- Support research tasks like PCR and molecular cloning.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current UVA student.
- You must have Federal Work Study eligibility.

- Location: Charlottesville, Virginia.
- Modality: On-site.
- Pay: $14.60 per hour.
- Term: This position runs from August 26, 2025, through May 8, 2026.
