About the role#
The University Annual Giving team is looking for a Federal Work-Study student to assist with direct marketing data. You will work in a remote environment to support donor engagement and campaign performance. This role involves managing datasets, performing data entry, and using office software to support fundraising initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Build, clean, and maintain large donor and campaign datasets using Excel.
- Use pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and formulas to organize audience segments for email, direct mail, social media, and text campaigns.
- Manage Excel-based A/B testing worksheets by splitting audience lists and summarizing results.
- Write and maintain audience segmentation queries in Snowflake.
- Verify donor records within Salesforce Ascend and assist with data validation.
- Troubleshoot data issues by analyzing query logic and documenting workflows.
- Provide customer service and handle general data entry tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Virginia.
- Federal Work-Study eligibility.
- A degree path in Data Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong Excel skills, including experience with formulas, pivot tables, and large datasets.
- Knowledge of relational database concepts and the ability to write SQL queries involving joins, CTEs, and conditional filtering.
- Ability to troubleshoot query results and explain logic clearly.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage tasks independently.
- A resume and one academic reference are required for your application.
Location & details#
- This position is fully remote.
- Work hours are up to 20 hours per week, with a minimum requirement of 10 hours per week.
- This role is for the 2026-27 academic school year.
