About the role#
The Community Investment Collaborative (CIC) is looking for a Communications Assistant to join our team. This role offers hands-on experience in a nonprofit environment focused on micro-enterprise development. You will work closely with the Development and Communications Manager and the Chief Operating Officer to support our mission of helping under-resourced entrepreneurs. This position provides insight into the realities of small business growth and community economic development.
What you'll do#
- Develop marketing materials and create program literature.
- Manage our website and social media presence.
- Adapt messaging to reach different audiences effectively.
- Evaluate success metrics for our programs and communications outreach.
- Research potential fundraising opportunities.
- Engage with stakeholders to support our educational programs.
- Collaborate with team members on various projects.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate status at UVA.
- Federal work-study eligibility.
- Strong writing and communication skills, including an interest in grant writing.
- Proficiency with G Suite, Microsoft Office, and Canva.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- An interest in marketing, event planning, small business, and entrepreneurship.
- A desire to support individuals from low-income backgrounds.
- Curiosity and a willingness to work in a team environment.
Location & details#
- This is a hybrid position based in Charlottesville, Virginia.
- You are required to work in the office at least 1 day per week.
- The term covers Fall 2026, Winter 2027, and Spring 2027.
- This is a paid, part-time role.
