About the role#
The Foundry, the hub for entrepreneurship and student founder advising at the University of Virginia, is looking for Community Operations Staff. You will act as a representative for the facility and support the day-to-day operations of the space. This role is a generalist position that covers everything from front desk duties to behind-the-scenes event support.
What you'll do#
- Manage the resource desk and oversee in-person new member intake.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and general inventory.
- Manage the facility during evening hours.
- Assist with the installation and implementation of new tools, services, and facility offerings.
- Provide tours and serve as the first point of contact for members and special guests.
- Support events and workshops, including documentation of speakers and activities.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- You are a current UVA student.
- You have a strong interest in startups, entrepreneurship, innovation, or building things.
- You enjoy being part of a community of like-minded people.
- You are comfortable in a customer-facing role and possess strong communication skills.
- You can work independently, finish tasks, and start new ones with minimal supervision.
- You have prior experience working in a team environment.
Location & details#
- This role is located in Charlottesville, Virginia.
- The position is on-site and part-time, requiring 10 to 20 hours per week.
- Shifts occur between 10am and 10pm, with some weekend work available.
- The schedule is flexible to accommodate academic commitments.
