The Assistant Director for Student Engagement & Training provides leadership for the Student Union at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. This role focuses on three core areas: student athletic ticketing operations, information desk and box office management, and the development of comprehensive training programs for student staff. The position serves as a key member of the Student Union leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, community building, and workforce development.
What you'll do#
- Lead community engagement programming, including recurring event series, pop-up activations, and signature events.
- Supervise, recruit, and train over 40 staff members for student gate operations at athletic events.
- Manage multiple ticketing platforms and oversee the Big Orange Tix program in partnership with the Athletics department.
- Design and implement comprehensive training programs, including onboarding and mid-semester evaluations for student staff.
- Manage program budgets, conduct financial evaluations, and utilize assessment data to improve services and learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with Student Life Communication on marketing initiatives for the Student Union.
- Oversee daily operations of the Information Desk and Box Office, including the Lost and Found program.
What you'll need#
- Master’s degree in education, student affairs, business administration, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of full-time experience in facility management, including direct supervision experience.
- Knowledge of facility management and college union operations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
- Ability to gather and analyze data to make strategic recommendations.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Knoxville, Tennessee.
- Work Modality: On-site, with some remote work permitted when the event schedule allows.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: Minimum starting salary of $60,000, commensurate with education and experience.
