The Office of Career Services Technology Team at the University of Maryland is seeking a graduate intern to support data processing, reporting, and system management. This role involves maintaining technical interfaces, managing data integrity, and assisting with the design of Business Intelligence systems. The intern will work closely with the Technology Manager and may assist in overseeing projects involving undergraduate students.
What you'll do#
- Develop and maintain system interface scripts using Python and REST API.
- Design, maintain, and develop a Business Intelligence system using Excel, Power Query, Power BI, and Google Sheets.
- Manage data integrity through regular de-duplication and quality control reviews.
- Design and maintain SQL database tables, views, and queries.
- Generate standard reports on recruiting volume, student engagement, and coaching metrics using HireSmith data.
- Assist in managing the work of undergraduate students on departmental projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a graduate student at the University of Maryland.
- Proficiency in Python is required; experience with Salesforce is a plus.
- Strong technical skills in Excel, ETL processes, and Business Intelligence tools.
- Database management experience, specifically with SQL.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding student data.
- Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to process improvement.
Location & details#
- Location: On-site at Van Munching Hall, College Park, Maryland.
- Term: 15-month appointment beginning August 31, 2026, through December 22, 2027.
- Schedule: 20 hours per week during the academic semester, increasing to 40 hours per week during the summer.
- Compensation: Paid at $15 per hour.
- Eligibility: Candidates must be enrolled in a University of Maryland graduate program throughout the Fall 2026, Winter 2027, and Fall 2027 semesters.
