About the role#
The Transfer Resource Program at Sacramento State supports the academic, social, and professional transition of transfer students. As a Transfer Peer Coach, you will work within the AANAPISI Cooperative to improve retention and graduation rates for underserved Asian American and Pacific Islander students. You will serve as a peer role model, providing guidance to help students navigate their new environment.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate and plan transfer recruitment, student orientations, and engagement events.
- Provide baseline general education academic advising support and conduct outreach to recruit program participants.
- Review incoming student applications as part of the admissions workflow.
- Manage and maintain sensitive student information and inventory securely.
- Create and edit data analysis reports, documents, and promotional flyers for web and digital content.
- Lead campus tours and group activities to help students build community.
- Address student inquiries and provide referrals to campus partners.
What you'll need#
- You must be a currently enrolled, continuing Sacramento State undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing.
- At least one year of professional experience in an office or programming capacity.
- A foundational understanding of General Education academic advising requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, web-based applications, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Proven experience working effectively with diverse student populations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Location & details#
- This role is located in Sacramento, California.
- This is a part-time, on-site position with a flexible schedule between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Compensation is $16.90 per hour.
