About the role#
The Legislative Data Center is hiring student assistants to help proof electronic legal documents. You will work under the supervision of the Information Systems Manager or designated leads. This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited position that requires you to live and work in California.
What you'll do#
- Review scanned legal documents for spelling and punctuation errors and make necessary corrections.
- Input data into the Historical Statutes database.
- Provide status reports on your work within the database.
- Adhere to office dress codes, policies, and regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- You must be a college student attending classes during the regular term at an accredited college or university.
- Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least six-semester units or nine quarter units.
- Your major must be in English, History, Political Science, Public Health, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and proofreading techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize assignments.
- Ability to communicate effectively and show initiative.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Sacramento, California.
- The position follows a hybrid work model with initial on-site training.
- Work hours are generally between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with schedules flexible to your classes.
- You may work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during academic breaks.
