About the role#
We are looking for three student assistants to support the California Air Resources Board. This role focuses on communications and policy tasks to help protect public health and the environment through air quality and climate programs. You will work in a remote environment and collaborate with internal staff, air districts, and community organizations.
What you'll do#
- Draft communication materials, outreach content, and policy summaries.
- Coordinate public meetings, workshops, and virtual events.
- Manage internal and external stakeholder communication, including emails and informational content.
- Handle administrative tasks such as organizing documents and managing calendars.
- Research public-facing program information and create concise summaries.
- Help ensure that incentive program details are communicated clearly and equitably to communities across the state.
What you'll need#
- Completion of college-level English composition or other writing-intensive coursework.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to prepare reports, meeting notes, and outreach materials.
- Experience with community service, outreach, or public-facing communication.
- Interest in environmental justice and community-focused programs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfort communicating with agencies and stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze situations and recommend practical actions.
- Current enrollment as a college student at an accredited institution on our affiliation list.
- Minimum enrollment of six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduates, or four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.
Location & details#
- This is a remote position based in California. You must reside and perform all work within the state of California.
- This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited position.
- Work hours are flexible, Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM.
- Students generally work up to 24 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during breaks.
