About the role#
The Institute for Social Research at Sacramento State is hiring 20 Field Research Coordinators to support the Young Adult Tobacco Purchase Survey Project. This project assesses tobacco sales to individuals under the age of 21 across California. You will work as part of a research team that travels to various retail locations to collect data. This is a part-time, temporary position running from January 2027 through May 2027.
What you'll do#
- Travel by car or plane to destinations throughout California.
- Conduct field observations at retail locations.
- Enter data accurately into a tablet device.
- Coordinate trips and travel logistics with a Secret Shopper partner.
- Maintain accurate records of all travel expenses and project logs.
- Communicate with staff to relay travel or data-related updates.
- Attend required in-person meetings before and after each trip.
What you'll need#
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must be legally eligible to drive in California.
- Must maintain a good driving record and be acceptable for vehicle insurance coverage.
- Must pass an online training course.
- Ability to travel on weekends and during academic breaks.
- Reliability and the ability to follow study protocols.
- Legal right to work in the United States without sponsorship.

- Modality: On-site, with significant travel required.
- Term: Winter 2027 and Spring 2027.
- Compensation: $21.00 per hour.
