About the role#
The Ideas Inspire Fellow supports the Strategic Communications Team in community engagement, volunteerism, and content strategies. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to projects that support the organization's mission to address poverty in the Bay Area. Projects are assigned based on organizational needs, the fellow's skills, and professional development interests. This is a paid fellowship for current college students or recent graduates.
What you'll do#
- Develop, edit, and proofread written materials, including presentation slides, one-pagers, and surveys.
- Create, post, and monitor social media content and research trends, influencers, and partners.
- Research community partners and conduct outreach to potential Bay Area partners.
- Coordinate logistics and scheduling for volunteer opportunities and communicate with stakeholders.
- Provide administrative support by creating department timelines, preparing documents, organizing files, and maintaining accurate records in systems like Salesforce.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to team communications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a college program, with preference for community college students.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak to group audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management.
- Experience with both informal and formal research.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Must be 18 years or older and based in the Bay Area.
Location & details#
- Location: San Francisco, California.
- Modality: On-site (must be able to attend 3-5 in-person events per month).
- Schedule: Full-time (37.5 hours per week for 3 months) or part-time (18-20 hours per week for 6 months).
- Term: Rolling.
- Representation: This position is represented by OPEIU, Local 29.
