About the role#
This externship provides veterinary students with hands-on clinical experience in an emergency hospital setting. Located in Port Charlotte, Florida, the Veterinary Emergency Clinic serves as a primary emergency care provider for the region, offering exposure to a wide variety of medical and surgical cases for dogs and cats. Students will work alongside experienced veterinarians and support staff to bridge the gap between classroom theory and clinical practice.
What you'll do#
- Actively participate in clinical cases to support your professional development.
- Work under the supervision of experienced veterinarians and skilled support staff.
- Assist with surgical cases, dental procedures, emergency care, sick patient workups, and routine medical appointments.
- Collaborate with the team to discuss case findings and develop treatment plans.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- Priority is given to students in their clinical years (3rd or 4th year) completing official externship blocks for school credit.
- Proof of professional liability insurance is required.
