About the role#
United Veterinary Care offers clinical externships for veterinary students at Firehouse Animal Health Center in Round Rock, Texas. This program is designed to provide hands-on experience in a real-world hospital setting, allowing students to apply classroom knowledge while working alongside experienced veterinarians and support staff. The hospital treats dogs, cats, and exotics, providing services including ultrasound, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and wellness care.
What you'll do#
- Participate in case discussions and collaborative problem-solving.
- Engage in hands-on patient care across general practice, emergency, and specialty settings.
- Discuss cases with supervising veterinarians to confirm exam findings and treatment plans.
- Assist in surgical cases, dental procedures, emergencies, and routine medical appointments.
What you'll need#
- Must be a current veterinary student at an AVMA-accredited veterinary school.
- Must provide proof of professional liability insurance.
- Priority scheduling is given to students in their clinical years on official externship blocks for school credit.
