Intern Diesel Mechanic

About the role#

As an Intern Diesel Mechanic, you will gain hands-on experience with the equipment and operations at United Rentals. This paid internship is designed to prepare you for a full-time career in the mechanical, diesel, or automotive fields. You will work alongside experienced technicians to support branch operations and develop your technical skills.

What you'll do#

• Learn about the various types of equipment available for rent and their specific applications.
• Perform manual and maintenance tasks to support daily branch operations.
• Provide labor assistance to seasoned mechanics during repairs and maintenance.
• Deliver exceptional service to customers to ensure a positive experience.
• Develop the skills necessary to transition into a full-time service technician role upon completion of your degree or certification.

What you'll need#

• A high school diploma or GED and current enrollment in a technical degree or certification program.
• A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and foundational knowledge of tools and equipment.
• A self-motivated approach with a strong sense of urgency.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and customer service skills.

• This is a full-time, on-site position with a rolling term.
• Locations: Charlotte, NC; Monroe, NC; and Rock Hill, SC.
• This position is designated as safety-sensitive.
