Retail Banking Intern (Part-Time 20-25 hours)

About the role#

The Retail Banking Intern role at Union Bank & Trust provides hands-on experience in retail banking operations. This 90-day internship program is designed to build foundational knowledge through a structured training curriculum, with the potential for a permanent position following the program. Interns work 20-25 hours per week on-site in Lincoln, Nebraska.

What you'll do#

• Complete a designed training curriculum to build foundational retail banking skills.
• Process routine financial transactions and learn to maintain an accurate cash drawer.
• Follow established balancing procedures and adhere to bank policies, laws, and regulations.
• Provide customer service by resolving inquiries and identifying opportunities to cross-promote banking services.
• Learn about bank products, fees, and internal compliance and fraud prevention standards.
• Participate in required compliance training and report any identified issues or violations.

What you'll need#

• High school diploma and current pursuit of a college degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Economics.
• Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and basic math and computer skills.
• Effective communication skills and a commitment to customer service.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
• Prior experience in customer service or cash handling is considered a plus.
• Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
