About the role#
Union Bank & Trust is seeking interns to learn the 529 College Savings industry from the ground up. This long-term opportunity provides a foundation in customer service, investments, tax regulations, and banking software. Interns are expected to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during core business hours (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Monday–Friday) and should be able to commit to 2–4 semesters. High-performing interns may be considered for full-time positions upon graduation.
What you'll do#
- Assist investors with phone inquiries regarding investment options, market performance, account information, and 529 tax and estate planning rules.
- Process account transactions, including contributions, withdrawals, and investment changes, in accordance with Federal and State laws.
- Educate clients on 529 plan details, including tax benefits, penalties, and gift tax regulations.
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain current knowledge of 529 updates and service procedures.
- Identify and evaluate potential risks to client accounts to prevent fraud, theft, and security breaches.
- Adhere to all bank policies, laws, and regulations, including completing required compliance training.
- Manage daily tasks and projects to ensure timely completion.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Finance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and financial software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- A positive, people-focused attitude.
- Ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and think critically.
