About the role#
The Director of Operations Fellow is a full-time position designed to prepare you to become a Director of Operations (DOO) at an Uncommon school. This fellowship serves as a leadership pipeline, focusing on professional development, experiential learning, and practical application. You will work in multiple locations and gradespans within the region to build your capacity as a school leader.
What you'll do#
- Serve as a full-time member of the school operations team at your host site.
- Design, implement, and refine systems to anticipate the needs of the school community.
- Tackle school or regional operations projects and conduct analysis of current systems.
- Act as the Director of Operations for 4-6 weeks during a planned immersion period, co-leading the school alongside the Principal.
- Engage in professional development workshops, coaching sessions, and problem-solving clinics.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree.
- 4 or more years of total work experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in operations leadership.
- At least 1 year of experience coaching, leading, or managing others.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Access.
- A commitment to the mission of Uncommon Schools.
- Experience in fields such as Business Administration, Operations Management, Psychology, or Sociology is relevant to this work.
