About the role#
The Center for Gender & Refugee Studies (CGRS) at UC Law San Francisco is seeking two fellows for the 2026-2027 Refugee Leadership Program. This fellowship aims to incorporate the expertise of individuals with personal experience of forced displacement into our advocacy and legal work. Fellows will engage in collaborative efforts to strengthen refugee rights initiatives while receiving professional development support.
What you'll do#
- Participate in team meetings and initiatives within the CGRS collaborative environment.
- Lead a project based on your specific interests and perspectives that contributes to the CGRS mission. This may include research, advocacy, storytelling, or community engagement.
- Coordinate professional development opportunities such as networking events, guest speakers, and workshops.
- Collaborate with staff members and assigned peer mentors.
What you'll need#
- Personal experience with forced displacement, such as persecution, armed conflict, or climate-induced displacement.
- Authorization to work in the United States and current residence in the country.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- A commitment to refugee and immigrant rights, legal protections for survivors of gender-based violence, or pro se support.
- Availability for 20 hours per month, including the flexibility to attend meetings during West Coast business hours.
Location & details#
- This is a remote role for individuals living in the United States.
- The fellowship runs for 7 months, from October 2026 through mid-June 2027.
- The time commitment is 20 hours per month.
- This position is paid with a $6,000 stipend and a $500 allocation for professional development.
