About the role#
This is a part-time, PRN position for a Respiratory Therapy Student at the Waterloo Medical Center. This role offers a rolling start date and requires working rotating shifts. It provides an opportunity to gain clinical experience while completing your education.
What you'll do#
- Assess and evaluate patients to determine appropriate therapy.
- Administer prescribed therapies and monitor patient progress.
- Consult with other health care providers regarding patient care.
- Perform diagnostic testing and interpret results.
- Implement and troubleshoot respiratory care equipment.
- Handle record keeping, billing, and medical record documentation.
- Teach patients how to use respiratory devices and follow procedures.
What you'll need#
- Completion of the first year in an accredited respiratory therapy program.
- Current enrollment in a respiratory therapy program.
- Intermediate skills in language, math, and reasoning.
- Familiarity with personal computers.
- Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
- Capacity to work under pressure and with a high degree of independence.
