Social Media Intern

About the role#

This is a paid, rolling internship opportunity based on-site at Treasure Island Resort & Casino. The role is designed to provide a well-rounded perspective on digital marketing and social media strategy within the casino and hospitality industry. Interns will gain hands-on experience in content creation, social listening, and digital strategy while working directly with the marketing team.

What you'll do#

• Create engaging content for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
• Pitch and shoot weekly photo and video content that is both on-trend and on-brand.
• Assist with managing the social media content calendar.
• Conduct competitive and market research to support digital content strategies.
• Engage in social listening to identify audience needs and emerging trends.
• Proofread and edit content for clarity and grammar.
• Represent the company at various on and off-site events, including 3 to 5 special events such as parades, concerts, fairs, and festivals.
• Gain exposure to digital advertising strategies and analytics.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a 2 or 4-year post-secondary program pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Advanced understanding of social media platforms, trends, and content creation for specific digital channels.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and experience using DSLR cameras.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work independently, manage projects, and meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Location & details#

• Location: Welch, Minnesota.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: $14.25 per hour.
• Environment: Work is performed primarily in an administration building, but includes time on the gaming floor (which features flashing lights, loud noises, and cigarette smoke) and outdoors in various weather conditions for events.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, perform repetitive hand and wrist motions, and sit for long periods with occasional walking and standing.
