Community Engagement Intern

About the role#

The Community Engagement Intern supports the daily operations of the department while gaining professional experience. This role focuses on representing Treasure Island Resort & Casino and Island Impact at various events, assisting with volunteer coordination, and managing donation logistics. Interns will also conduct research on industry trends and present findings to department leadership.

What you'll do#

• Support day-to-day business needs and complete assigned special projects.
• Represent the organization at community and special events, including golf tournaments, fairs, concerts, and local sporting events.
• Collaborate with the Community Engagement Supervisor and Specialist to plan and execute volunteer events for team members.
• Assist with the digital in-kind donation program, including the logistics of donation deliveries.
• Research industry trends and opportunities, culminating in a presentation for department leaders.
• Work 3 to 5 special events such as parades and festivals to support property needs.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Current enrollment in a 2 or 4-year post-secondary educational program in a relevant field, such as Communications, Public Health, or Psychology.
• Previous guest service experience is preferred.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with a detail-oriented and organized approach.
• Ability to work independently, solve problems, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Professional demeanor when interacting with guests, coworkers, and management.

Location & details#

• Location: Welch, Minnesota.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: Flexible, including weekends, holidays, and all shifts.
• Physical requirements include the ability to stand or walk for long periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform repetitive motions.
• The work environment involves both indoor and outdoor settings, which may include loud noises, flashing lights, and exposure to cigarette smoke.
