Software Engineer Intern (Global SRE) - 2026 Summer (BS/MS)

About the role#

The monetization technology team builds and maintains large-scale, globally distributed, fault-tolerant ads systems. As a Software Engineer Intern in Global SRE, you will ensure these systems maintain high availability and performance to provide a seamless user experience. This 12-week full-time internship offers industry exposure, hands-on experience, and the opportunity to contribute to real-world infrastructure challenges.

What you'll do#

• Manage the full lifecycle of Ads systems, including system design consulting, launch reviews, deployment, operation, and refinement.
• Improve the availability of services deployed across global data centers.
• Develop tools and software to enhance the reliability, scalability, and operability of services.
• Monitor and measure service health, latency, and availability.
• Participate in incident response, postmortems, and on-call rotations across continents.
• Automate routine tasks to improve operational efficiency.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Proficiency in programming, debugging, and optimization in at least one general-purpose language such as C, C++, Java, Python, Perl, or Go.
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux operating systems and IP networking.
• Experience in problem-solving, production operations, or application troubleshooting.
• Strong communication skills and a demonstrated sense of ownership.
• Ability to commit to a 12-week full-time work period during Summer 2026.
